Saturdays adventure

Sorry there was no blog posted on Saturday.  It was a very long day.

In the morning we walked the streets of Cologne.  Scott's mum did advise us we would be doing heaps of walking and she wasn't wrong.  My feet are aching.

Next time we go on one of these holidays we are going to take a pedometer just to see how much we do walk.

We saw the amazing cathedral in Cologne and near it there is a roman tile floor they uncovered while digging for a bomb shelter during the war.  It is so beautiful and to think its survived 1800yrs.

We got back on the boat at 12 for lunch then back off again so that we could bus to the Floriade, which is a horticultural expo.  Not quite the flower show the travel agent advised but was still interesting.

There was a guy called "The Willowman" who lives in the forest were the expo was held and he makes everything out of willow.  He works with the local kids who help him build the structures.  Took heaps of pictures of this creations.

We were back on board the boat at 6.30 then we had the Captains fairwell dinner, which was yummy as always.

Thankfully we have a free day today in Amsterdam and our Cruise Director is taking us "window shopping" tonight ;)

But right now I'm back to bed to try and fight this sore throat I've got, everyone's been sick on board and I thought I had been able to avoid it but no luck......

Oh and just in case you were going to ask , no we cant take pictures when "window shopping"

Marksburg Castle and Mechanical insturments

Had a very busy day today.

First off stopped at Ruedesheim, went on a small train Siegfried's Mechanical Musical Instruments Museum.  It was pretty cool, lots of old Pianolas and other stuff.

After that we strolled the streets and took the chair lift to the top of the mountain.  Was pretty cold today but had a great time.

Afterwards we cruised down the Rhine Gorge, there were lots of castles to take photos off along the way.

In the afternoon we were dropped off in Braubach so that we could bus to Marksburg castle.  We had a tour of the castle which  is the only hill castle on the Rhine that has never been destroyed.  It has been lived in for over 700 years.  Was amazing inside and we also had a medieval banquet afterwards with even a court jester.

Am now back on the boat ready to head to bed.  Another long day tomorrow with a tour of Cologne them the Floriade in the afternoon.

Boring day

Had a quiet day today, both Scott and I not feeling 100%.

After lunch we had a demonstration from a local glassblower.

It was pretty interesting.

Other then that have just been sleeping and recovering.

Should be all good again tomorrow.

Sorry for the boring blog today :)
